1000 stories of arriving in Würzburg: how the pics4peace project aims to build bridges with art and culture
With #endlichankommen, the pics4peace association wants to bring people together and encourage conversation. The project kicks off on Sunday, October 27, 11 a.m., at the Mainfranken Theater.
Everyone wants to finally arrive at some point. Pia Beckmann has taken up this wish with her non-profit association pics4peace. In cooperation with the Mainfranken Theater as well as with various actors from society, science, business and art in Würzburg, 1000 people and their stories of arrival will be shown at various locations in Würzburg over a period of about a year.
Whether old, young, rich or poor, with German or foreign roots: all interviewees are asked the same questions for the podcasts. The spectrum ranges from their favorite dish to living together as a family, fears and worries, thoughts about home and homeland to values for good coexistence and a forecast of where Germany will be politically and socially in ten years' time.
“In creative formats of all kinds, we invite everyone to talk about these stories, discover common values and, ideally, put them into practice together,” explains Würzburg's former mayor Beckmann. The aim of the project is to counteract divisions in society and improve mutual understanding, including among people from different backgrounds. In addition, pics4peace hopes to promote coexistence based on values in the city of Würzburg and the region. However, this would not be possible without a strong core team that implements the project from the ground up. “I am very grateful for the support,” says the initiator.
Next Sunday, October 27, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the project will be launched at the Mainfranken Theater - with the start of the 1000 stories and the beginning of the vernissage “1000 Odysseen” by painter, photographer and installation artist Winfried Muthesius. Lord Mayor Christian Schuchardt has taken over the patronage.
